Scheherazade tea set (Russian Ballet Series)
The magical, colorful imagery of the ballet Scheherazade graces this set of fine porcelain, inspired by the original designs of Leon Bakst. The ballet was created by choreographer Michel Fokine for the legendary dancer Vaslav Nijinsky, to a symphonic suite by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Controversial at the time for its exotic sensuality, Scheherazade was first performed in 1910 in Paris, by the Ballets Russes.
