Petrushka tea set (Russian Ballet Series)
Superbly Russian, the ballet Petrushka was created to showcase the virtuosity of ballet legend Vaslav Nijinsky. The story – of a trickster puppet (in Russian, a Petrushka) with a tragic love – is set in magnificent St. Petersburg. In this set of finest porcelain, Petrushka appears on the cup, while the saucer and dessert plate portray the domes and spires of Russia. The ballet, choreographed for the Ballets Russes by Michel Fokine to music by Igor Stravinsky, premiered in Paris in 1911.
Tea set includes cup, saucer, dessert plate.
